Timms visits I-55 Raceway for WoO's Spring Classic

After weather forced a postponement in Oklahoma, Ryan Timms returned on the road with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series this past weekend for the two-day Spring Classic at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 (Pevely, Mo.).

With a stacked 62-car field on hand, Timms faced early adversity on Friday night. While running third in his heat race, the Oklahoma City native suffered a blown engine, forcing the team into a quick motor swap. Despite the setback—and nearly missing the call for his B Feature—Timms managed a strong charge from 12th-to-6th following an early caution, narrowly missing a transfer into the main event.

The 18-year-old came back swinging on Saturday. After a sixth-place run in his heat race, Timms stormed from sixth to first in the Last Chance Showdown to punch his ticket into the $12,000-to-win feature. He wrapped up the weekend with a 19th-place finish in the A-Main—an admirable result given the mechanical hurdles and deep competition.
