Ryan Timms tackles Tulsa Shootout ahead of Chili Bowl
Oklahoma City, Okla., native Ryan Timms took on the 41st annual Hyper Racing Tulsa Shootout powered by NOS Energy Drink this past weekend, competing in four divisions as the Tulsa (Okla.) Expo Center’s SageNet Center hosted five consecutive nights of racing.
With the marquee event drawing more than 2,000 entries for the first time in its history, the 2025 Knoxville Nationals champion got off to a strong start. Timms finished third in his Stock Non-Wing heat race before reeling off three straight victories. He claimed the his A-Class feature on Tuesday and followed it up by winning both his Winged Outlaw and Non-Wing Outlaw heat races on Wednesday.
As New Year’s Day approached on Thursday, Timms scratched from the Stock Non-Wing C-Main, bringing his weekend in that division to a close. His campaign remained alive in the other three divisions, however, as he recorded third-place finishes in both the A-Class and Winged Outlaw qualifiers, along with a sixth-place result in the Non-Wing Outlaw.
On Saturday, Timms’ bid for a Golden Driller in the Non-Wing Outlaw ended with a fourth-place finish in his B-Main. He advanced through consolation races to reach the main events in both the Winged Outlaw and A-Class divisions. Timms charged forward five positions in the Winged Outlaw A-Main to finish 11th, while an exit on lap 28 in the A-Class feature brought his weekend to a close.
