Ryan Timms $12,000 richer with Jackson Nationals triumph; Pennsylvania on the agenda
Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good, and for "Flyin'" Ryan Timms and Liebig Motorsports, it was a little bit of both, taking advantage of a last lap mishap to take home Saturday's Jackson Nationals triumph worth $12,000. Austin McCarl, an Iowa native who started third on the A-Main grid, was the official leader of the first 29 circuits of the 30-lap contest, but when his left rear tire blew at the exit of turn two, it was Timms who was there to capitalize.
For Timms, who calls Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, home, the IRA Outlaw Sprint Series victory at Jackson Motorplex bumped his season's win total to 18, working to put his good fortune and momentum to use in an upcoming trip to Pennsylvania Posse Country. If all goes according to plan, the reigning Knoxville Nationals and Tuscarora 50 champion will join the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series in Williams Grove Speedway's annual National Open in early October. To help test for the occasion, Timms will come to town a week early, setting aim on The Grove's National Open Tuneup on Friday, September 29.
